The RINQ is more than just skating. You can book the entire rink for a party, play air hockey, or show off your skills at their putting green. The RINQ is dedicated to providing recreational skating to the community of Washington County and the surrounding area! This fun center is meant to be a fun and safe environment that allows people of all ages to unplug, connect, and create memories and they knew they couldn’t do it without a great audio system to set the mood.

The RINQ team approached us and asked if we would be up for the task. Already on the project deploying a full Ubiquiti Unifi networking stack, including a security gateway, cloud key, POE networking switches, access points, and IP cameras, we reached out to Soundvision for help on designing an audio solution for The RINQ. The RINQ requested a super immersive, high-energy audio environment wherein their customers could skate to literally any type of music. They also wanted to make sure the system included wireless microphones for their associates and had the ability for guest DJs to come in and plug in their equipment and control the music.

Whereas the gym was already an existing building, we leveraged Soundvision’s design team, wherein they were able to take the dimensions of the space and approximate location of the existing lights, and generate a system design that was in line with the owner’s performance and budgetary expectations.

The RINQ’s layout is designed as one big open area. This project has 16 total of TruAudio’s pendant style speaker, known as the Beatdrop, dispersed throughout The RINQ, 2 custom-designed 15” subwoofers with LED backlights to really pack some awesome bass throughout the skating rink, 6 CL-70V-6UL which are TruAudio’s 2-way in-ceiling commercial speakers, a Crown CDI-6000 amplifier that is specifically developed for commercial projects, an Audio Mixer with wireless microphone and a VSSL A.1 for music sourcing. The audio mixer used on the project was also designed so that DJs could come and plug their own mixing equipment right into the audio system.

The speakers were installed using 70V technology. Wherein one channel of a CDI-6000 is used with a custom DSP preset loaded and selected to power the BeatDrops. An additional CDI-1000 was used to power (2) 15” custom subwoofers by utilizing one of the channels The Crown amp is also configured to take the stereo source (left and right channel) and mono summing the signal so each speaker is playing the same thing throughout the project. An RCA cable is used to connect the Crown Amplifier with the BeatDrops to a VSSL A.1. An additional RCA cable was used to connect the subwoofers to the subwoofer output on the A.1.

The music at the Rinq creates the fun environment. I knew that the Soundvision Technologies’ products would deliver unmatched sound for people to enjoy for years to come.
